Non-HoF Autographs: Raul Mondesi and Ramon Torres

Last week I went to a Wilmington Blue Rocks (A Affiliate of the Royals) and they had two players signing in the concourse before the game.

I don't know much about infielder Ramon Torres, but infielder Raul Mondesi is actually the son of the former big-league All Star of the same name.

Rest In Peace, Tony Gwynn

I was shocked to learn of the passing of Tony Gwynn today. Had I known he was battling cancer this probably wouldn't have been a surprise, but still, it is a big shock to me and I'm sure much of the baseball world.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rest in Peace, Ralph Kiner

I never was able to get my hands on an autograph from Hall of Famer, Ralph Kiner, so it was especially sad for me to hear of his passing last week. Mr. Kiner was an incredible player and long-time broadcaster in baseball.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Tony La Russa

I was a little surprised to find this TTM return from one of the next class of baseball Hall of Famers.

Manager Tony La Russa is one of the most successful managers of the recent few decades of Major League Baseball. He has transitioned from a successful on-field career to an executive position with the MLB.

He signed for me on a 3x5 note card, in blue sharpie, but unfortunately he signed on the lined side of the card.  I can't be too picky.  Thanks to Mr. La Russa for taking the time to sign!

Three More Enshrined

Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Frank Thomas got one of the best phone calls of their life today when they were voted as inductees in this year's class of the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Three more names to add to my wish list!

Don Sutton (1945-2021)

I used a little Christmas money to add another signature to my collection.  Hall of Fame pitcher, Don Sutton is a nice piece.  Sutton pitched for one of my favorite teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He holds some incredible records - some not so impressive, like the most at-bats without getting a home run.

I like getting an autograph at a reasonable price that is certified as authentic by a card company.

Update: Mr. Sutton passed away in January of 2021. Rest In Peace.
